It’s summertime, which means breakfast can be fun, a little over the top, and definitely dipped in chocolate.

Step 1

Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Whisk until fully combined.

3/4 cup White granulated sugar

1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder

3 tbsp All-purpose flour

1 pinch Salt

Step 2

Slowly pour in the milk, about ½ cup at a time, whisking constantly to keep the mixture smooth and lump-free.

2 cup Whole milk

Step 3

Cook the mixture, stirring continuously, until it begins to thicken—about 5 to 7 minutes. Avoid letting it boil too hard, as that can cause it to burn.

Step 4

Once the gravy has thickened to your liking, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.

2 tbsp Unsalted butter

1 tsp Vanilla extract

Step 5

Serve the warm chocolate gravy over freshly baked biscuits, pancakes, or even ice cream. Enjoy!
